A servicewoman who was believed to be involved in the incident has failed, the functionary said Friday evening.

The incident occurred after officers responded to a domestic call around 6 p.m. at West 135th Street.

Mayor Eric Adams is at Harlem Hospital, where the officers were taken, and is getting briefed on the incident, according to a tweet from his press secretary.

The mayor is expected to hold a press briefing at the hospital, though it's unclear when it will happen.

Attorney General Merrick Garland offered condolences to the NYPD's commissioner Friday night and told her the department and FBI was ready to assist, according to a tweet. The FBI was already in touch with their counterparts at the NYPD, he added.

New York Attorney General Letitia James released a statement in response to the shooting. "All of New York state is in mourning tonight. As we await the facts, my office may assert jurisdiction in this matter. We pray for the safety of our police and our communities."

Five NYPD officers have been shot in the first three weeks of this year.
